Prep Like a Pro: What You Need to Know Before Your Makeup Appointment

At MG Makeup, we want you to feel comfortable and relaxed during your appointment. In addition to preparing your skin and hair, there are a few things you can do to ensure that your appointment runs smoothly.

Skin & Hair Prep

When it comes to preparing your skin, start by cleansing and exfoliating. A gentle cleanser followed by an exfoliating scrub will remove dirt, oil, and dead skin cells, creating a smooth, even canvas for your makeup artist to work with. After cleansing and exfoliating, moisturize your skin to prevent it from drying out. Choose a moisturizer that suits your skin type and apply it generously to your face and neck.

If you're also having your hair done, please arrive with clean and dry hair. We recommend doing your normal hair care routine, as you know your hair best. If you know it holds style best when blow dried, do that, versus air dried, etc. Please let your stylist know what your primary concerns are (frizz, volume, etc.) and how well your hair holds a style.

Drinking plenty of water in the days leading up to your appointment will help to keep your skin hydrated and glowing.

What To Wear

We recommend wearing a button-up shirt, so you don't have to pull clothes over your face once your makeup is done. This will help to keep your makeup in place and prevent any smudging or smearing.

If you're coming in for a bridal trial, wear white so that you can get a better idea of how your makeup will look on your big day.

What To Bring

When you arrive, you can expect to start with a consultation about the look and feel you are hoping to achieve. Bringing an inspiration photo or two can be really helpful, as it gives us a better sense of what you're looking for and how we can tailor our services to meet your needs.

It's also a good idea to arrive with no makeup on, if possible. This saves time and ensures that your makeup artist can start with a fresh canvas. You don't need to bring any makeup products with you, but if there are certain products you would like us to use - like a favorite lipstick or foundation - you are welcome to bring them.

The Nitty Gritty

Please note that if you are more than 20 minutes late for your appointment, it will be considered cancelled. We want to make sure that we have enough time to give you the best possible service, so please arrive on time. When it comes to payment, we accept cash or e-transfer, and all services must be paid for before leaving. Finally, our studio is located in a small blue house, and there is free parking in the back.

That’s It, That’s All!

By following these tips, you can ensure that your skin is in the best possible condition for your makeup appointment. A little preparation goes a long way when it comes to achieving a flawless, long-lasting look!
